‘Succession’ Star Nicholas Braun Opens Up About The Series Finale

Nicholas Braun is like us, totally caught off guard for the end of “Succession”.
It was recently announced that HBO’s flagship series, which follows Logan Roy’s wealthy family and their dynastic struggle for power, is coming to an end. For Braun, who plays cousin Greg on the TV phenomenon, that news was hard to swallow.
“That was a big thing” told ET at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday.
“We expected it while we were making the show, but you don’t believe it until Jesse says it,” he added, referring to showrunner Jesse Armstrong. “We are all quite discouraged. I was sad as hell my last day.”
Braun became well known in Hollywood with his bug-laden meme-factory persona. Introduced in the first episode in 2018, Greg was a distant relative of the wealthy Roy, until his need for work brought him into the fold and made him a complicit member of the family business.
“I got done a couple of weeks ago, and it was really a tough day, you know, saying goodbye to everybody,” Braun told the outlet. “It has been the greatest work experience of my life. So saying goodbye to those people was really hard.”

Although Armstrong previously stated “Succession” would cover only four or five seasons Totally, he didn’t announce that this would be the final season of the show until last month. Braun and his companions, while ready to accept that fact, were just as bummed out as the fans, and only had one idea.
“We had an idea,” Braun told ET about how the series finale, which airs in May, might end. “None of us read the script before it came to us, we got a table read draft, so we didn’t know exactly how it was going to end. Anyway, the end is fire.”
While none of the cast have revealed any secrets (and it’s unlikely they will), Braun isn’t the only cast member with emotional feelings about the ending. Jeremy Strong, who plays the Roy family’s main disruptor, Kendall, he told GQ last month that the ending “will feel like a death in a way”.
Meanwhile, Braun has taken on other projects, most recently starring in “Cat Person,” which debuted at Sundance this year. While he’s sad to see “Succession” go, he knows fans can’t get enough of Greg, and he vowed the final season won’t disappoint.
“He’s getting roughed up again this season,” he told ET. “Some fun stuff.”
Season 4 of “Succession” premieres at 9 pm ET on March 26 on HBO.
